Within the framework of the “Open European Societies” project, a collection of short research papers has been created about the phenomenon of migration in the 20th century in the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia and the United Kingdom explaining the causes and analyzing the impact of migration in the participating countries’ communities on sociocultural, economic and demographic level.

This collection of research papers covers the following topics: i) a definition of terms regarding migration research; ii) a description of a time span with strong migratory movements in each of the partner’s countries and the reason why it has been chosen; iii) a description of the causes of migration through the push and pull factors approach; and iv) a description of the impact of the migration movements on the partner’s countries from a social, economic, demographic and political perspective.
